Dear Families,
Welcome back to Norwood Public School for the 2021-2022 school year! It makes me so very happy to know that this morning, all NPS students entered the building for a full day of in-person learning.
First, I wanted to say that the NPS PTO realizes how challenging and intense last year was here at NPS. We really saw every single person in our building rise to the occasion to help keep our students happy and safe, and for that, we are forever thankful. Thank you to our teachers for being flexible and smiling through all the changes, to our front office, our custodians, really every single person inside NPS; thank you for doing your best for our children. Because you were all such a good team, our students were safe and were able to thrive to the best of their abilities.
We hope that you saw that amongst everything we were up against last year, the PTO still tried their best to show our support to the students, teachers, and staff. There were appreciation lawn signs for teachers, virtual holiday parties with treats dropped off at every student’s doorstep, staff and teacher appreciation days, and even something special for all our students on the last day of school with the Kona Ice Truck visit. Thanks to all of the PTO, this Summer, we were able to gift the school with new entryway rugs, a new milk cooler, and picnic tables for outdoor learning/eating. Your support made that all possible.
The PTO has been working hard all summer to get things ready for the parents, students, and teachers of NPS. We’ve started to plan events and assemblies that we can bring back to our students safely this year; we’ve brought back our hot lunch program and even designed new spirit wear.
Please take a few minutes to explore the website, so you have the opportunity to see what an invaluable resource it will be for you. It will be your one-stop source for information about important dates, PTO events, online registration and payment for events, and much, much more.
The Norwood PTO is a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children. For us to be effective and truly representative of the school, everyone’s participation is essential. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, day or evening, your ideas, your time, your talents, and your VOICE is truly needed. There are endless ways you can help us make the 2021-2022 school year successful!
The school year starts with our annual membership drive, the first chance to get families involved. Money raised through PTO memberships, as well as fundraisers, helps fund educational enrichment programs, classroom enhancements, technology equipment, parent presentations, and so much more. I would personally like to invite you to attend our monthly PTO meetings, which allows you to vote on how your fundraising dollars are spent towards our amazing programs. This year, I hope more than ever I get to see all of you in person and listen to your ideas/questions/concerns first hand.
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be the President of the Norwood Public School PTO this year. Our board has big ideas that we hope will create big smiles and leave a big impact this year. I’m here to help with anything any of you may need. No question is silly, too big or too small; I’ll do my best to help however I can.
Many thanks in advance for your time and support! Our new Superintendent Mr. Ulmer recently coined the theme of this year, “We are Norwood. We are One”, I couldn’t agree more. Wishing you a healthy, happy, safe school year.
All the best,
Emily Moylan
